Make Your Own Photobooks

What publisher works with the book I designed in my own software?

by Nancy

Looking for publishers (such as: asukabook and viovio) that will allow a .pdf created book file, so I can design my own layouts in my InDesign Software. I am a graphic designer and starting into photography.

I will be putting together a wedding album shortly. So I've been researching who to use for publishing my album. I can do some of my pages in Photoshop, but to do all of the them in photoshop and save them all as .jpg's takes alot of time and memory. Programs, such as Quark and InDesign provides easy and quick do-it-yourself layouts and being those are programs I use everyday - I'm fast at it. But the best part is - to save it all as one hi-res file in a .pdf format (except cover). Here is a link to viovio's .pdf creation: http://www.viovio.com/index.php?structure_id=418. I have never made a book before, and looked into alot of places that publish and downloaded tons of software to see which one I liked best and all of them have limitations- which I didn't like and two that I did like - were way to slow. So far only came across AsukaBook.com and VioVio.com that allows .pdf format. AsukaBook is way to expensive for me. But have you had any reviews on VioVio? (I also like the fact that you can sell your creation through VioVio)

If you don't mind sending me a link to your page when it's uploaded. Much appreciated.

Photo Book Publishers That Allow a PDF
by: Linda

After reading the post by Ann I realized that she really wanted to know which photo book publishers would let you upload a pdf of a book you have created in another software.

There are not many publishers that will allow you to do this. They are focused on the software that they provide, and they don't allow this type of upload. The best that most of them allow is a page by page upload of a jpg created in another program.

The publishers that do allow this are Shutterflyand Viovio.

We do have links to a few other publishers that accept a book in pdf format on our publishers we aren't reviewing page. Qoop, Lulu and SharedInk all have a limited ability to upload the pdf.

You'll Need to Look at Our Other Publishers
by: Linda

All of our main publishers print their books off of their own software. On our Other Publisher page, we mention a few publishers that will print from a pdf: Blurb, Qoop, VioVio, LuLu, and SharedInk all accept books you create in another program.

If anyone else has experience with another program please share that with us.
