There are two types of free software that are provided by photo book publisher/printers: downloadable and online. The downloadable software requires you to install the program on your computer. You will then add pictures to the book off of your computer and can work on the book when you are not hooked to the internet. One user loves this type of program because she travels often and likes to design her photo books while she is on airplanes. When you are done with the book you will upload the whole project to purchase the book. The online software utilizes pictures that you have uploaded to the printer/publisher previously or you can upload more photos while you are working on your project. When you are done with your project you can proceed to check out without any more uploads. Functionally, there is little difference in the software. It is more a matter of personal preference.
