Make Your Own Photobooks

Viovio prices and quality

by Julie

Their products are high quality. I did have a problem with one of my books and their email customer service was superior and they replaced the book very easily.

The web-site is a little confusing at first, but the price/quality aspect was worth it to me especially since I was ordering multiple copies of the same book. Note: I haven't used their software, just uploaded pages I have made on Photoshop and saved as jpegs.

don't upload a pdf
by: Anonymous

I had a terrible experience with Viovio when trying to purchase a photo book. First, issue is that they shipped the wrong cover. I ordered a leather front cover with a die cut window but received a cover without the window. Additionally, there was a page with a very noticeable printing artifact which could be described as a smudge. These types of issues are typically due to poor quality assurance controls and mean additional hassle for the consumer.

The biggest issue was the photo book was missing images that were in the pdf that I uploaded. When I viewed the uploaded pdf from the pdf viewer on the Viovio site I could see the images. I proofed it very carefully because I didn't want to continue the purchase in case they rendered it differently from the acrobat viewer. The way they output the pdf in the Viovio print shop is different from the way it is viewed from the Viovio web site. It took 7 emails to try and work all of these issues out but in the end I had to return the book because I was unable to change the images in the pdf to their standard.

Bottom Line: I paid $3.56 in returned postage, they refunded the original charge not including the return postage, I am without a photo book, and I am left with a head-ache from all the hassle.

Feedback from VioVio
by: Admin

Received the following email from a representative at Viovio about their new website interface:

My name is Claire Carstens and I work for Viovio, one of the photo book printing companies that you wrote a review for. I noticed that you had somewhat of a negative experience with Viovio due to the the difficulty of navigating the website. I am contacting you to let you know that our User Interface Team has been working hard to make changes to the site, allowing it to be much more user friendly. I encourage you to check it out, as I believe you and your readers will enjoy these changes, as well as the future ones we have to come.

Here is a link to a sample page that displays our new look:

Thank you for taking the time to try out our site, and I ask for you to email me at (email removed) with any questions or comments you may have with our new site. "

So... there's some feedback from Viovio. I'll be going in and checking their new site soon and reviewing it here. In the meantime, if anybody takes a look, we'd all love some comments.

Their software is horrendous, very clunky, very few free templates (but you can pay for more templates, which I feel is outrageous).

Their pricing is tempting enough that I may someday make my own pages in Photoshop and upload and use as full-page bleeds, but I will never try to use their software again to create pages, it was exceptionally painful!
