SmileBooks Photo Book Review

by Jasmin

I ordered a photo book from SmileBooks and I am very happy with it. The quality of the book and the pictures is extremely good. I liked how intuitive and flexible the software is. I would definitely recommend their books to you.

Great for wedding photo books
by: Anonymous

I used SmileBooks to make a memory book from my wedding photos. It turned out so beautifully you would have thought it cost so much more than $40! I had no problems whatsoever and the product was soo beautiful!

the worst!!
by: Anonymous

Absolute bottom of the barrel worst. I ordered a smilebook as a surprise for a friend 5 months ago. They sent the wrong one and never sent the right one despite all their promises to me and to the Better Business Bureau. They actually deleted my book after some time and it isn't even possible to reorder it. I never received a refund either. Don't waste your time. Run and save yourself the aggrevation. They are pathetic.

bad service
by: Anonymous

I spent about 4 weeks making a photo book as a gift with smilebook. In the end I find out that it takes over 15 ays to get the book. Half of that is postage time. When i requested rush postage and that i would pay for it they said that they do no rush postage. bad service for a product where most orders will be gifts. have not seen the book yet, still waiting. but if the book is anything like the service then it's too will suck.

Does not ship to Canada
by: Anonymous

I just spent 4 hours making one of these photobooks. When I went to order it I found out that they only ship to the US so I cannot even order it for my son. No where on their webpage do they state that this is only available in the US.

Smilebooks
by: Anonymous

Software was easy to download. Smilebooks offers more templates & options then any other site I've found. It was fun to play with and get creative. Problems began when it was time to send over the book. It took four separate times to get it "error free" or "no corrupt photos". Each time took approx. 1 hr to upload. Not sure why it takes so long. After a week of trying & finally getting it sent over, the book arrived. Photos came out considerably darker than the actual photo. Colors were also off. Pinks came out red & dark blues were now black.

Beautiful photobook
by: Anonymous

I've made photobooks with Smilebooks, MyCanvas, Blurb, and Shutterfly (and was given one from Photoworks) and the Smilebook has the best overall quality of any of them.

The Smilebooks, MyCanvas, and Blurb photobooks were all made using the same professional photographs. Smilebooks had much crisper, higher quality images than the Blurb book (MyCanvas was about on par with Smilebooks). The paper (not the upgraded real photo paper now offered) was much thicker than that of any of the other companies and it had a beautiful finish to it. The actual cover and binding were very well done, linen with a photo on the front.

My only complaints were that the photo on the front was a sticker and the corners began peeling up a bit. Also on 2-3 of the photos the colors seem to be slightly off, but this is only noticeable if you compare directly to a copy you know to be correct.

Despite these minor issues, I greatly prefer the Smilebook to any of the other companies.

Disappointed in Smilebooks photo paper, order of pages was wrong
by: Anonymous

I was also disappointed in the quality of the photo paper. In addition, I had two pages out of order from how I sent it in and they didn't understand the error and refused to address the problem. Not planning to use this company again. It's ok - but no where near the hype I had read or worth the money for the photo paper. It's also very slow to get in touch with someone to address printing issues, etc.

Dissapointed with SmileBooks "Photo" Paper Books
by: Peter

I ordered a book printed on what they call "photo" paper(more expensive and it turned out to be just a heavy glossy card stock - yet the quality was subpar - skin tones extremely yellow - even some ghosting on the edges - worst photobook I've ever had printed!

I'm glad I chose to make my last photo book with Smilebooks, with the quality of my new photo book it was well worth it.
