Personalized childrens picture books can take a couple of forms. You can opt for a simple photo book detailing your child's early years. Or you can get a little creative and have a little fun with a personalized childrens story book or adventure book.

Some great examples of this sort of personalized book for kids are at Shutterfly, which has a whole line of "adventure" books, as well as their "Center Stage" books, where your kids photo is featured in their favorite stories.

Center Stage Books

When you're looking for a personalized childrens story book, you're probably looking for something like these CenterStage Kids Photo Books. These are personalized children's picture books, where your child becomes the main character. These personalized adventure story books for kids are a lot of fun, especially for littler ones.

How to Make Them

To create a personalized childrens book, you select only one favorite "face" picture (check the guidelines at Shutterfly for choosing the picture) that will be featured on the cover and in every scene throughout 38 full color pictures. You'll enter basic information that will be automatically woven into the story, including:

Your child's name

Your child's date of birth, and

Your child's hometown

You can also add an optional dedication that appears on the title page.

The Center Stage books are a little more difficult to find, but if you go to the Shutterfly site, then go to Products, they are listed under there. Or do a simple search on the website to see what they currently offer.

Their recent Center Stage personalized childresn picture books offered are SpongeBob and Me: Super Detectives, Diego and My Zebra Rescue, Dora and My Rescue Adventure, My Happy Day on Sesame Street, My Adventure on Sesame Street and My Amazing Alphabet Adventure.

Adventure Photo Story Books

Shutterfly Adventure Books are story books where you can add pictures on the predesigned layouts of the book. (To me, they are more of a "background" book, but, hey... I'm not going to argue with what Shutterfly calls them.)

Personalize-ability

To make this personalized childrens story book, all you need is --of course-- photos. You can personalize the book's hard cover with favorite photos and a title. Another nice option is the ability to add text details to the spine, like date and author. There's a minimum of 20 pages, but you can add up to 80. Across 20 pages, you could display from around 30 to 100 photos.
