Why We Don't Review Some Printers

Our intent with our reviews of photo book printers is to provide information for the average user. That is, a person who is creating and printing a digital photo book for personal use, using the software provided by their digital photobook printing company of choice. This user will also be making their own photo books entirely on their own-- not having anyone else work on the layout or design.

Most of the smaller photobook printing companies I talk about below are simply not as attractive to the average user as the larger, more popular companies. But, of course, that doesn't mean that they don't deserve a mention!

Photo Book Companies Powered by Another Printer

What is a "Powered-By" Printer? One very good reason why we don't review ALL of the smaller digital photobook priting services at Make Your Own Photo Book is because many of them don't actually have their own service-- they simply put their name or brand on another printer's product. In other words, they're "powered by" another printer.

How it Works: Many digital photo book printers license their software to other companies. These other companies may do one of two things with this software. They can:

Print your photo books for you, or

Act as an affiliate --or a go-between for orders-- of the original printing service

In either case, our review of these publishers should be identical when it comes to the software reviews. Since this is the case, we list the publishers that are powered by someone else.

Thinking about working with small digital photobook printing company? It's definitely a good idea to know which larger company is powering their products or software. That way, you can read photo book reviews on the larger, product-providing company to get a better idea of what to expect.
