In my past MyPublisher reviews, I've not necessarily rated this photo book printing service positively. However, there have been some improvements in their offerings of late.

MyPublisher's Photobook Software

The photo book software at MyPublisher is a downloadable software rather than an online version. MyPublisher continues to tweak its software and has recently released MyPublisher 4.1. There is little difference in this version of software and the previous MyPublisher 4.0 softaware, and the normal user will not see any visible changes. I assume these are all back-end adjustments.

One of the reason some of my previous MyPublisher reviews were less than positive were because of problems with the software. Earlier versions of their photobook software would cause memory crashes - if you experienced any of these you might want to give MyPublisher another chance.

Much Improved: However, crashes with this software seem to be a thing of the past. Version 4.1 seems to be quite stable and is not the memory hog of prior programs. So this MyPublisher review is going to be much more positive than those that came before.

Making Your Photo Book with MyPublisher

The whole interface was set up to make it easy for users. When you open the software, a message center appears that includes a handy quick start guide. This is great for new users who might have some trouble otherwise. Adding Photos: Once the book type and cover type are chosen the add pictures screen is very easy to use and understand. I give this high marks for usability.

Backgrounds and Themes: One negative part of this MyPublisher review is the variety of templates and themes for your photo book. There is a limited number of themes. My favorites were "Vintage" and "Collage". Vintage made the book look like a very old photo album while Collage was perfect to use when you had a lot of pictures and little or no text.

MyPublisher Help and Customer Service

You will also receive pop-up help to explain certain features. This help feature can be turned off so it won't get annoying if you do not need it. A Help number is easy to find. I had some questions and just used the Live Chat. I did this at 7:40am Eastern Time and had not problem getting the help I needed. Quite impressed.

My Conclusions about MyPublisher

The whole process is great for a beginner, someone who wants to make a book quickly, or someone who likes plain and simple backgrounds. Those people who like to get just the right background for each page or add embellishments will not be satisfied with this printer.
