MyPublisher Photobooks: Program Flaw
Please be very careful when using My Publisher. I have used them for numerous books and though I like the ease of the program and that I can do a year at a time (approx. 400 photos) I learned the hard way that they have a serious flaw in their program.
I created my most recent book-100 pages, over 400 photos. It was a 4 day, 12+ hour creation. However, even though I saved it every 5 minutes and was making the final edit, the program crashed. After proofing, I found 1 caption in a different font, so I changed it- crash! So I had to reboot the computer, reopened the program, and nothing was there. Talk about feeling sick. It would not open the book at all.
I contacted customer support. They apologized, but if their program has an error, or if you lose power or the computer needs to be restarted, the file becomes corrupt and you lose everything. I found this unacceptable so I called back and emailed for 2 days. Got the same response from 5 different people. One tried to blame the computer's capability, One suggested that I uninstall and reinstall. Tried that. I couldn't even find the program on the list to uninstall it. I had to go through the program files and drag and drop it into the recycle bin.
They showed me how to retrieve my pictures if I needed them, but their program splits each photo into 3 different files, one of those is stretched and one of them is a very small file. I just don't understand their concept of saving a file. Computers crash, batteries die, but even though you may not have your most recent version, you should have something.
So from experience, back up your book to an external hard drive or thumb drive every 10 minutes or so to save you the frustration and heartache I've endured.
