Mixbook Review:
Mixbook Photo Books Opinions
This Mixbook review is, as far as photo book reviews go, rather specialized. Why? Because Mixbook itself specializes in the way photo books are created with the service.
Collaboration with MixBook
This photo book pritners specializes in creating a collaborative environment to design your photo books. In fact, they call their photo book software a "collaborative scrapbook editor". That is how committed they are to collaboration-- which makes it a very nice option for those people looking to plan a collaborative project, such as a fmaily recipe book or school yearbook.
Creating a Photo Book at MixBook
Another important part of a Mixbook review is how easy it is to actually create the book-- whether you collaborate or not. Uploading pictures at
Mixbookis quite easy and fast. The picture uploader also connects to several social networking, photo storage, and search engines. I was able to connect to Facebook and add pictures from my albums without a problem. The only issue with importing pix from other sites is that the pictures tend to be lower resolution and only good for smaller pictures on the page.
However, that's true of any other photo book printing service.
MixBooks' Automix
If you don't have a lot of time to create your photo book hands-on, the Automix will make a book for you and it actually does a really nice job. You can change some pictures and add your own text so there is still a nice degree of flexibility with this option-- one of my favorite parts of my Mixbook review, actually, as most other printers have less flexibility with their "auto fill" type options.
Layouts and Templates
Although there are specific backgrounds, stickers, and layouts loaded with each theme, you can add backgrounds and stickers from other themes or even upload some if you have them from another program. Layouts can be altered, and you can add a picture to any page, so you can really make your own layouts.
The service provides a nice degree of design flexibility-- more than most printers, probably.
