Lifephoto Review:
Lifephoto's Photo Book Printing Service
The first thing I really noticed when putting together this Lifephoto review is that their photo book software is not as flexible as I might have liked.
LifePhoto's Photo Book Software
You have a few options when creating a LifePhoto photo book. One allows you to have the software place all the photos in your photo book for you. Convenient, yet... but not very flexible. If you do this there is not
much editing that you can do to the resulting book. Since the software places all the pictures for you, be careful to place your pictures in the order
you'd wish to see them in the book. You can easily rearrange the pages after the book is made, but it is easier to do that organization before you build
the book.
Backgrounds, Layouts, and Templates
Your second option is to make a "creative" book. You have a limited choice in page layouts and many of the backgrounds are so busy that they detract
from your pictures-- not my favorite part of this LifePhoto review. The options are very basic and would be suitable for a simple book. If you want to create pages that a scrapbooker would make you need to find more
flexibility in another printer.
The backgrounds that come with the software are extremely poor in both choice and
quality. Instead of using an actual picture as a backgroun you might like to have a simple texture uploaded.
Photos as Backgrounds Many people like to use their own photos or images as backgrounds and it is easy to do. But be careful because the image may not place on the page the
way you'd like it and cause a jarring disconnect with the pictures.
Paper, Covers, etc.
The most positive part of this Lifephoto review is its options whne it comes to paper types. There are four different paper finishes that you can choose: Standard, Gloss Finish, Protect Coat, and Bright White. I have never seen any other printer give
you so many paper choices.
Our Conclusions
If you want a photo book that is very simple and all you photos placed in the book for you, then this might be a decent option for a photo book printer. Otherwise, this photo book reviewer thinks you might be happier looking elsewhere.
