Images in square format

Are there any publishers who can print images that aren't in the traditional landscape or portrait format, i.e. that you can upload as they are without masking part of the placeholder, or having to warp the image to fit the placeholder? Many of my images are in square format, for example. It's only the image I'm concerned about, not the actual size/shape of the book itself. Thanks.

Photo book software that allows square pictures

Adding a square picture to your photo book pages can be difficult to do with some of the photo book software. Many of the programs will take your pictures and make it a rectangle to fit their layouts. Some of the programs will keep the picture as a square, but leave a space around the rest of the rectangle layout. What we want is the ability to add the picture as a square and to keep it in its original shape.

This is a great question because it is a feature that I have not reviewed before. It will be something that I will incorporate into the rating system in the future.

I did a quick look at the A+ software to see if they would allow the square picture in its original size. Although I did not check all of the software I did find two winners.

DigiLabs allows you to drag a picture directly onto the page and keeps it in the original size. If you wish to resize this picture once it is in the book the resize keeps the same aspect ratio.

MyCanvas Photo Books also supplies a software that allows you to drag the photo onto the page and keep its original size.

Both of these printer/publishers offer a variety of books and sizes, so I hope this solves your problem.
