How long does it usually take someone to create a photo book?
by Ryan
If I have a pile of photos on my computer and I want to create a book. The steps that I see are:
1. Get some software like Picasa or iPhoto that will allow me to organize my photos. (Free, 10 minutes provided I know which software I want and I know how to use it).
2. Organize and filter my photos (days or weeks if I have a tonne of photos - which I do). Not to mention things like cropping and editing - even the basic stuff.
3. Upload them onto a site like Blurb. (1 hour to decide which publishing site to use, learn the basics of how to use it, sign-up, etc.)
4. Design my book (layout, background, order, embelishments.....potentially many hours/days/weeks...)
5. Print and be happy!
Although the tools are now easier then ever. I think many people, myself included, are not doing this because it's just too overwhelming. Too many choices - everything from which photos to include, which publisher to use, what does the layout look like, etc.
I would imagine that most people would love to have a book. But I would imagine most people don't have the time/passion/desire to actually go through all that to make a book. And others may be able to get through the initial choices to get started...but find it too difficult to actually finish the project and give up.
Would love others thoughts on this.
