Make Your Own Photobooks

Bookemon Photo Book Review

Bookemon is a photo book printer that allows you to publish your book for sale. The free software is also great for making books for your own use from scratch-- that is, of completely your own design.

While the website encourages people to share your books online, the option to share or sell a photo book online is still left completely up to you.

What Are We Reviewing?

The comments in this Bookemon review assume that you are not interested in selling your book, so that portion of the software and the website will not be reviewed, as most of our visitors at Make Your Own Photo Book are casual users, not sellers.

Making Bookemon Photo Books

There are three different ways to make books at Bookemon:

  • Start with a blank template,
  • Start with a document, or
  • Start with a template.
  • The blank template truly lets you add everything to the template and does not give you a design or theme to start with. You can choose a theme for suggestions and different clipart, but it is not like other printers that might give you a starting suggesting that you can then make changes. For this Bookemon review, this is probably my favorite option of the three.

Starting with a document allows you to design your photo book in another software and easily upload it to your book project.

The third way is to choose one of the templates that they provide. The templates are not as nice as ones that are provide by most other printer/publishers. There might be a template that easily fits into your purpose, otherwise you might need to start from scratch.

Bookemon Photo Book Software Review and Features

One of the coolest features of the Bookemon photo book software is that you can easily upload your own clipart. This is great for those scrapbookers who would like to use an embellishment from their own designs.

Bookemon also offers what they call "Thick Books". These softcover books allow you to use up to 460 pages.

There is extensive help documented online. If any of the commonly asked questions don't work you can send an email to support. I asked a question on a Sunday and received an answer almost immediately.

    Bookemon Review Summary

In the end, if you are someone who wants to make a book with no design on your part, you probably shouldn't choose Bookemon as your photo book printer. If, on the other hand, you want to create a project that is very much your own from the start, then this photo book publisher/printer is really one that you should try.
